Smarter Science is a framework for teaching and learning science that also develops the skills of inquiry, creativity, and innovation in a meaningful and engaging manner. In this series, teachers discover how they can explicitly teach these science and inquiry processes to upper elementary level learners while integrating literacy and numeracy.
Over the course of 4 sessions, educators learn about the 35 inquiry process skills in the Smarter Science Framework, as well as how to use the Steps to Inquiry and PEOE strategies to help students plan and implement their own investigations. Participants learn how to scaffold the inquiry process from a guided inquiry to an open-ended inquiry. They are provided with many demos, ideas and materials to stimulate your thinking!
Workshops are in English but Smarter Science resources are also available in French.
Focus: Grades 3-7 teachers
